Every year the All-American Soup Box Derby holds a race on Fayette between 5th and 8th Street in Conshohocken on July 4th! This is their 60th year running the Soap Box Derby.
Conicelli Autoplex decided to jump on board this year and sponsor the event. There will be vendors along Fayette all day with hot dogs, water ice, and refreshments. The Conshohocken United Methodist Church will have BBQ Chicken and Ribs as well.
Boys and girls ages 8 to 18 years old are encouraged to construct and race their homemade Soap Box Derby cars. The winners are rewarded trophies and cash prizes.
There are 38 contestants signed up and ready to compete for the chance to qualify for the World Championship in Akron, Ohio which takes place on the weekend of July 23rd. The top three winners from each division will qualify for the Championship.
Three divisions:
Stock Division - 8-13 years old
Super Stock Division - 10-17 years old
Masters Division: 10 - 18 years old
Mayor Robert Frost will be attending for the raising of the flag and ceremony starting at 9:15am. Races will begin approximately 10:30 am. Sign up today at http://www.aasbd.org.
